How to Order Wallpaper
Ordering wallpaper is hard! With the method below, you can order the amount of wallpaper that you actually need. If you start to feel dizzy while reading the "how to" below... let us do it for you - call or text (720) 799-6121!
Don't do this
A common mistake is thinking you can simply calculate the square feet of wall that needs covered and get that amount of wallpaper. Walls need to have a single vertical panel of wallpaper from baseboard to ceiling - if you finish a roll in the middle of the wall and pick up where you left off with a new one, you will get horizontal lines / seams on your wall. The ceiling height and pattern repeat need to be considered with regards to roll length. For example - if you have 9 ft ceilings and a pattern that repeats every two feet, you can only cut two matching panels out of a 27 ft roll.

Do this instead
-
Write down the width of your wall (A) and wallpaper (B) in inches and the height of your wall (C) and length of your wallpaper (D) in feet.
-
Now check if your wallpaper has a vertical repeat. You can find this information in your wallpaper's specs or dimensions. The repeat is how often the pattern repeats, the bigger the repeat the more waste between panels of wallpaper cut - you can't simply start the next panel where your last one ended or the pattern won't match. Write down your repeat.
-
Skip to step 4 if you have a repeat. Divide the height of your wall (C), by the length of your roll. For example, if your roll is 30 feet long and your walls are 8 feet tall - 30 / 8 = 3.75. This tells us how many panels we can get per roll (F). We only want whole panels, so we always round down (to 3, in this case).
-
Skip to step 5 if you do not have a repeat. Divide the height of your wall + repeat, by the length of your roll. For example, if your roll is 33 feet long, with a 2 foot repeat, and your walls are 8 feet tall: 33 / (8+2) = 3.33. This tells us how many panels we can get per roll. We only want whole panels, so we round down (to 3, in this case).
-
Next, we will determine how much wall width we can cover per roll. Multiply the width of your roll by the number of panels per roll you can cut. For example, if your roll width is 21 inches and you can cut 3 panels per roll, that is 63 horizontal inches of wall that can be covered per roll.
-
Finally, divide the total width of your wall (A) by the result you found in step 5. For example, if your wall is 120 inches and you can get 63 horizontal inches of wall covered per roll: 120 / 63 = 1.9. You would need 1.9 rolls in this example, thus 2 will get the job done.
